Carrie Underwood Says Fame Makes Dating Harder

Although former American Idol sensation Carrie Underwood has become one of the country music’s biggest stars, fame has its downside – especially when it comes to dating, she says.

“You never really know why somebody wants to be around you, or if they do genuinely like you,” Underwood, 25, tells Allure magazine in the September issue. “I wish everyone had a label on their forehead so you could automatically tell their intentions. Sometimes you just wish that no one wanted anything from you.”

The star, who earlier this year was inducted into Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, recalls a time soon after her success on Idol when a guy who’d ignored her in college – clearly enamored by her newfound success – called saying that “he wanted to explain.”

Fame hasn’t helped create lasting relationships for her either. Earlier this year, Underwood split from Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford via text-messages. “We didn’t have a fight. No one cheated,” she clarifies. “It plain didn’t work.”

As for Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, who now is dating Jessica Simpson, Underwood says she still hears from him sometimes – but doesn’t always pick up the phone. “We were both small town people doing very big things, and we relied on each other, dealing with fame,” says the singer who claims the relationship wasn’t serious. And now? “I don’t know. The phone will ring and it’ll be him, and I’ll maybe not answer.”

Some of her reservations about opening up to people seem to stem from an old flame who cheater on her. “I don’t want to name names, even though he probably deserves it, but he fooled around,” she tells the magazine. “Oh, yeah, and lied! It was one of those things that everyone knew but me. He was a good liar. Nobody would come out and tell me. And he seemed perfect in every way.”

Added the singer: “I’m sure we’ve all run into these people, whether they’re friends, boyfriends or girlfriends.”

Hayden Panettiere’s Dad Arrested for Domestic Violence

Hayden Panettiere’s father, Alan, was arrested early Monday morning at the family’s West Hollywood home for felony domestic violence, sheriffs confirm.

“There was a domestic argument between the mother and father,” Sgt. Scott Wolf of the West Hollywood sheriffs said. “He got upset and struck the mother in the face one or two times on the left cheek which caused some bruising. From what I’m told, he hit her with a closed fist.

“The mother called police shortly before 3 a.m., and Mr. Panettiere was taken into custody,” Sgt. Wolf added. “He’s been cooperative. Earlier, they were at a party and the husband apparently felt disrespected by his wife.”

On Sunday evening, Hayden hosted a benefit for the Whaleman Foundation at Eva Longoria’s Beso restaurant in Hollywood, also attended by her parents.

Wolf said that Alan Panettiere, 49, who has not yet given deputies his version of events, was arrested on the felony charge instead of a misdemeanor because “there were visible signs of injury” on 52-year-old Lesley Vogel’s face. TMZ.com first reported the incident.

Another sheriff’s spokesman, Steve Whitmore, says, “I can confirm that alcohol was involved in the incident.”

Alan Panettiere is currently in custody, pending $50,000 bail

Tila Tequila Steps Out with a New Gal Pal

A brokenhearted and humiliated Tila Tequila may have been dumped by Kristy Morgan on national television last month, but Tequila looks to have another shot at love.

The MTV reality star stepped out with new gal pal Courtenay Semel, a socialite and former Lindsay Lohan friend, at Thursday’s EA Sports/Xbox 360 premiere of Madden NFL “09 in Los Angeles. A beaming Tequila said she “didn’t want to jinx anything” about their relationship, but said she was very happy.

Semel, however, happily shared her feelings for the MTV reality star. “I’d seen the show [A Shot at Love] and just needed to meet her…and it just happened,” Semel says of Tequila. Now the “best friends” are content to lay in bed watching movies, share clothes and makeup and steer clear of drama.

“There are no games,” says Tequila. “It’s true what they say about lesbians–you meet and then the next day you move in together, because I can’t get rid of her. She pretty much lives at my house.”

Alanis Morissette Is Fascinated By Aging

The effects of old age won’t be a concern for Alanis Morissette.
Don’t count on seeing the singer, who says she “notices new things” about her body every month, searching for a fountain of youth. Instead Morissette plans to embrace her body’s transformation.

“I’m fascinated by aging and how a woman’s body changes,” Morissette, 34, tells Women’s Health’s September issue.

“I don’t want to spend the next 50 years of my life trying to hide those changes. There’s something very relaxing about watching it unfold instead of fighting it the whole way.”

While she watches her body evolve, Morissette has stayed physically fit by adding triathlete to her resume.

“It was amazing to use my body as an instrument rather than as an ornament,” Morissette says of the swim-run-bike competition.

When she’s not flexing her competitive muscle, the self-described cross-trainer likes versatility in her exercise regimen. While touring to promote her new album Flavors of Entanglement. Morissette, a fan of kickboxing and dance, counts basketball and volleyball as her favorite sports.

“Doing the same thing every day is not right for my temperament,” she says.

In between triathlons and her music career will Morissette, who split from Ryan Reynolds last year, have time for marriage and a family?

Both are on her list of lifetime goals.

“I want to go to Laos and do a show in Russia and get married and have kids,” she says. “Maybe even adopt a kid. I’d like to live somewhere in the middle of nowhere for a while – maybe in a forest or on an ocean bluff.”

Prince William and Kate Middleton Enjoy Caribbean Splash

Before he endures some rigorous special-forces training, Prince William let his hair down with a bit of island R&R alongside girlfriend Kate Middleton. The pair, who after six years together still continue dating amid growing speculation of their being a royal engagement, were spotted in the Caribbean frolicking aboard a speedboat with pals.

Middleton, 26, waterskiied and relaxed in a black and white bikini, while Wills, also 26, chilled in blue board shorts.

“They only planned on a week there, which is a bit unusual, as they still have some time together before he continues military training,” a royal insider says.

The two hooked up amid the luxurious surroundings of a villa on Mustique, an exclusive West Indies island. According to Britain’s Mail on Sunday, the couple spent a week at a villa owned by a Venezuelan millionairess.

Security protection was heavy for the vacationers. In addition to his usual bodyguards, William had the added protection of a local coast-guard vessel that cruised the waters – and rumbled at at least one boatload of paparazzi.

Now believed to be back in Britain, the pair are expected to socialize further.

“Because he has been away for quite a while now there will be lots of catching up with their group of friends in England,” says the insider. “Summer is still the time of fun.”

Angie Everhart’s Boyfriend Arrested for Battery

Angie Everhart’s boyfriend was arrested Thursday in West Hollywood for investigation of spousal battery following an “incident” between the two that caused minor injuries, police say.
The unidentified man was booked by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on the misdemeanor charge.
“There was an incident involving Angie Everhart and her boyfriend,” says sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Wolf. “He was gone from the location of the incident before deputies arrived. There were minor injuries but they did not require medical attention. He was subsequently booked for misdemeanor spousal battery.”
A rep for Everhart was not immediately available for comment.

The pair, who never announced an engagement, have been together for ten years and share a 2,200-acre ranch in Stephenville, Texas. Murray, 38, who hosted Ty Murray’s Celebrity Bull-Riding Challenge on CMT last year, currently stars in the video for his wife’s new country single, “I Do.”

At a charity event in Nashville days before the wedding, Jewel, 34, said of marriage, “It’s something that needs to be taken seriously.”

Just last year, she said that she and Murray were in no rush to wed.

Chad Michael Murray Says Fiancée Makes Me Laugh

Chad Michael Murray has learned that happiness is someone who makes you laugh
– and he wants to pass his message on to all the single women out there.

“To all the girls out there who think being funny is not sexy, you are wrong!” the actor said at Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards in L.A.

In fact, the One Tree Hill heartthrob says his current relationship is so successful simply because “she makes me laugh, and we never get bored.”

Murray, 26, has been engaged to former One Tree Hill walk-on Kenzie Dalton for a little more than two years. He describes his fiancée as his “best friend [who] supports me and makes me laugh.”

“It’s not that she’s just pretty, she’s my buddy,” he adds. “I never have actually had a girl who’s made me laugh before.”

Asked if he and his bride-to-be have set a date for their nuptials, the actor, who was briefly married to his One Tree Hill costar Sophia Bush in 2005, was coy. “I would like to be married someday,” he teased. “No, I’m really looking forward to it. I have a really, really great girl in my life right now.”

He also keeps a little something with him at all times to remind him of that special woman. “I have a necklace around my neck that my lady gave me,” said Murray, “so I try never to leave home without that.”

Lawyer Confirms Morgan Freeman Divorcing

He’s got a broken arm. A broken elbow. And now, Morgan Freeman has a broken marriage.

Bill Luckett, the Oscar winner’s business partner and lawyer, says Freeman and his wife of 24 years are getting a divorce, reports the Associated Press.

Luckett told the Memphis Commercial-Appeal newspaper that the divorce action between Freeman and Myrna Colley-Lee is pending as the actor heals from his recent car accident. Morgan’s condition has been upgraded to “fair” by the hospital, which would not comment on his impending release.

Luckett also told USA Today that reports the actor severed a nerve in his arm are incorrect.

“Nothing was severed. A nerve can be bruised or stretched. It was injured but not severed,” he told the paper.

“The doctors have said it will be six months to a year before he plays golf again,” added Luckett. “He hates that.”

Freeman, according to Luckett, will also have to wear a neck brace for six to eight months.

Kate Hudson: Chris Robinson to Remain in My Life

Kate Hudson may be reluctant to chat about recent romances, but there is one man about whom the star is not shy about gushing – ex-husband Chris Robinson.
“We can talk about Chris till the dogs come home. I married Chris, I had a baby with Chris, Chris will be in my life for the rest of my life,” Hudson, 29, says in the September’s W magazine.
“It’s so hard for me, because I’m so open, to hold back. I could really just go on forever about this stuff,” she says. “But everything else – I’ve learned that things are better left private until you’re actually planning the wedding.”
Hudson also talks about her ex in terms of her son, Ryder, now 4. “We iChat with Chris constantly,” she says. “No matter what is going on in my life, relationship-wise, Chris takes absolute precedence. It’s important for Ryder to hear me say how wonderful Chris is, and how much Chris misses him.”
With turning 30 on her horizon next April, Hudson says, “Am I gonna look back and say, ‘God, I wish I could have gone to that … concert?’ I’d rather be listening to my son sing songs. I’d rather be watching him sleep.”
