Britney Arrives in Louisiana to Be With Pregnant Sister

Britney Spears is at home in Kentwood, La., to be on hand when her sister Jamie Lynn gives birth.

After taking an early morning commercial flight from LAX, the singer, 26, touched down in New Orleans on Wednesday afternoon with her father, Jamie, 55, her brother, Bryan, 31, and her assistant, Brett.

The Spears clan then headed home to the Spears family Serenity mansion in Kentwood. Their arrival comes just before Jamie Lynn, 17, is expected to give birth.

In anticipation of the youngest Spears’s imminent delivery, Jamie Lynn has been preparing her nursery – with its pink, brown and “silver-green” color scheme – and buying furniture with her mother, Lynne, 53.

Britney Making a Pussycat Dolls Cameo

Her next album may not be dropping any time soon, but Britney Spears is dipping her toes back into the music scene, filming a cameo for the new Pussycat Dolls video.

“It’s a small part,” says a source about the popstar’s visit to the L.A. set of the group’s video shoot for their new single, When I Grow Up, on Wednesday. Possibly saving her trademark moves for her own album, Spears was not expected to dance or perform with the girls in the video.

While her recent TV meetings (she was spotted exiting the Merv Griffin offices last week) were strictly exploratory, How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris said at an Academy screening of the show at McGee’s Bar & Grill in Manhattan, they would be happy to have her back for a third time saying, “The door is open for her.”

Supernanny is More Than Happy To Help Britney Spears

She’s no stranger to strangers’ homes – but now Supernanny Jo Frost has her eyes on a high profile family: the Spears clan.

In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Frost offers her childrearing expertise to Britney Spears. “I do believe she loves her children very much and I’d be more than happy to help her,” she says in an interview scheduled to air Friday.

“To be able to put her on the right track and feel more empowered as a parent.” Frost adds, “Importance in motherhood is about really relating to other mothers, being able to have support groups and it’s about Britney being in a place where she’s feeling secure and confident in herself, so that she is able to take care of her little ones and give them what they need from her, which is their mother around.”

Frost’s hit ABC show takes to her people’s homes across the country, where she helps parents deal with their children’s behavioral issues. Frost tells ET the key to her advice comes from imbuing parents with “the confidence to raise their baby in a healthy and content way.”

Britney Spears working on new album

Following a tumultuous year and a half, Pop princess Britney Spears is back in the studio working on the follow-up to 2007's 'Black Out' with producer JR Rotem and songwriter Sean Garrett. Check out the report via PEOPLE.com:
"She's great," Rotem told PEOPLE at the BMI Pop Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. "She's like a master at what she does. She's a lot more experienced than most people. She just has the 'it' factor that not every artist has. So it's always nice to work with her."

Although Rotem, who briefly dated Spears in 2007, would not reveal any details of the project, a Spears family source tells PEOPLE that the pop star is in the early stages of a follow-up to her last album Blackout, which was released last October.

"Britney is in the experimental stages of a new album," says the source. "She's trying to find the sound and direction she wants to go in, but nothing is set in stone just yet. She has been playing the piano a lot and just singing. She says she misses 'just singing.'"

Producer Sean Garrett was mum on specifics but says that he and Spears, 26, have "a few things in the works." At the BMI Pop Awards, Garrett told PEOPLE: "I'm just happy to see her back and recovering. She's really shaping up and getting her whole situation back together. I'm really proud and happy to see her."
Though recent media reports suggest she's getting her life back together, I'm still, somewhat, pessimistic about her recording a new album so soon. The fact she wasn't able to promote 'Blackout' essentially killed what was her best effort in years IMO. It would be unfortunate if the same occurred next go round. When she's ready to resurface in terms of doing the media rounds, is when, I believe, she'll be ready to release a new LP. Gone are the days when an artists name alone could sell an album; every last unit has to be hustled for.

Britney's Fashionable Night Out With Dad

It was a girls’ night out – plus dad – for Britney Spears Friday.

Spears, in a black dress and sun-kissed blonde hair, said she’s doing “good” at Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier’s 50th birthday party at L.A.’s Petersen Automotive Museum.

Spears, 26, hung with two girlfriends in a roped-off VIP area at Audigier’s blowout gala. Fergie, Snoop Dogg, Pamela Anderson and – surprise! – Michael Jackson also made appearances.

Jamie Spears joined his daughter, sitting on a couch about five feet away with his head resting on his hands.

Spears stayed about an hour and a half, smoking cigarettes on an outside patio, nodding her head to a live performance from Macy Gray, and abstaining from alcohol. When she left for the evening, her father joined her.

“I am friends with Britney,” Audigier said before the party. “She was at my office, I believe, three weeks ago. She got some presents for Jamie-Lynn and herself too. She got a ton of T-shirts, a ton of caps. She loved it.”

Spears left the party before Jackson, clad in a shiny blue shirt, came onstage to wish Audigier happy birthday.

Jamie Spears’ full-time job is now working for his daughter as conservator of her estate, court papers show.

The pop star returned home from a Costa Rican vacation at Mel Gibson’s house earlier this week.

Britney Is Really Shaping Up

Britney Spears is back in the recording studio with J.R. Rotem and Sean Garrett, the producers confirm.

“She’s great,” Rotem said at the BMI Pop Awards in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. “She’s like a master at what she does. She’s a lot more experienced than most people. She just has the ‘it’ factor that not every artist has. So it’s always nice to work with her.”

Although Rotem, who briefly dated Spears in 2007, would not reveal any details of the project, a Spears family source says that the pop star is in the early stages of a follow-up to her last album Blackout, which was released last October.

Britney Spears on Coata Rica beach

The Pop Celerity Britney Spears was spotted this weekend relaxing in bikini and sunglasses on a Costan Rican beach where she was reportedly staying at actor Mel Gibson’s property. The Hollywood actor and producer invited Britney to spend a few days in Costa Rica at his 163-hectare (402-acre) spread in the Pacific coast resort town of Samara, a report said.

According to an eyewitness, "Britney looked relaxed as she sunbathed, ran into the water to play in the heavy waves and drove an ATV around the sand."

Costa Rican newspaper Al Dia reports tell: "Britney, Mel, Brit’s father (Jamie Spears) and Mel’s wife (Robyn Moore) landed at San Jose’s main airport on Thursday, and when they get off the plane, the pop star hid herself under an umbrella to hide from photographers. From there, the trio boarded a private jet to one of Gibson’s reported several homes in the country, in the northwest beach region of Guanacaste."

And while there has been speculation the the trip is spiritually based, an inside source told press, “They’re just going away for a few days to relax.”

Britney Spears was Involved in Minor Car Accident

Britney Spears was involved in a minor car accident Tuesday afternoon, when she rear-ended a red Ford Explorer in Beverly Hills.“I think she was just distracted,” said a witness. “She just tapped the other car in front of her.”

Spears, 26, was at the wheel of her white Mercedes-Benz SL65 when she left her Studio City home for an afternoon drive. Shortly thereafter, she rear-ended the SUV.

Her bodyguard, who was sitting shotgun, got out and apparently gave a business card to the other driver, a female. Police were not involved.

Witnesses say the driver of the Explorer followed Spears back to her gated community to exchange information, apparently suggested by the bodyguard to avoid press attention.

Spears was involved in a fender bender in L.A. just last month on April 12.

Britney Spears Gets More Time with Children

Britney Spears will get more time with her sons during visitation, a court ruled Tuesday.

“We are so pleased with Britney’s progress, and we are appreciative of the court’s recognition of this progress,” Spears’s parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, said in statement after a hearing attended by the pop star and her ex-husband Kevin Federline.

It was not clear how much more time Spears was granted. Federline’s attorney characterized the court order as “an expansion of time.”

“It is a cautious step, but a step forward nonetheless,” said lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan. “We are seeing signs of [Britney’s] progress, and consistency over time is something welcome by Kevin … The children are doing great.”

Spears, with lawyer Blair Berk and both of her parents, smiled as she left the courtroom and headed for her SUV, but did not talk to the press. Earlier, during a break in the hearing, the singer was seen looking teary-eyed. However, during a second break, she smiled and held her mother’s hand as she went back into the courtroom.

During that break, Spears and her lawyers, as well as Federline and his attorney, convened to adjacent rooms outside of the courtroom.

The hearing began around 9:40 a.m. on Tuesday. Spears, wearing a knee-length brown and white dress, was accompanied by her lawyer and both of her parents. Federline, wearing a tan pinstriped suit, was with Kaplan.

Spears has spent the last several months keeping a relatively low profile – and staying out of trouble. The singer was hospitalized at UCLA Medical Center’s psych ward in January. Her custody arrangement has consisted of only monitored visitation rights with her sons, Preston, 2, and Jayden, 1, several times a week – but no overnight privileges. Her father and a lawyer maintain legal control of her affairs until a July 31 hearing.

Since her father took control of Spears’s life, the singer has been spending more time with her family – including her previously estranged mom. (She recently attended a baby shower for her sister, Jamie Lynn, in Kentwood, La.)

Spears has also been hard at work filming her second appearance on How I Met Your Mother, which will air May 12.

Britney Spears Returns Home to Kentwood

Britney Spears is home again: The pop star left California on Friday and returned to her hometown of Kentwood, La. – her first trip back since before her hospitalization and custody battles of the past year, a source says.

Also in town is Spears’s father, Jamie, who remains in legal control of her affairs until a July 31 hearing.

The singer’s arrival in her home state comes as sources say there is a planned baby shower over the weekend for her 17-year-old sister Jamie Lynn, who announced her pregnancy in December.

Spears, 26, last visited Kentwood in early 2007 for her aunt’s funeral

HAS BRITNEY SPEARS LOSE WEIGHT?

Star Magazine claims that Britney has been working out like a fiend to get her new figure - grueling workouts at the gym and lots of dance classes. They also claim that she is on a diet where she only eats half of anything - for instance, half of a cookie, half of a meal, etc. Plus, she now eats breakfast:

Britney is also making healthier food choices, say the insider. “This is the first time in her life that she’s been eating breakfast. She used to wake up at noon, so she just totally skipped it. But now she eats packaged oatmeal with sugar or Special K or Total cereal with nonfat milk. She has a whole cabinet full of cereal and oatmeal.”

Sounds healthy… or does it?

BRITNEY SPEARS

Biography

Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981, in Kentwood, Louisiana. She always knew she wanted to pursue a musical career, so she took her talents to her local church, where she sang with the choir. She even sang on national television as a Star Search contestant.

At the age of 8, Britney auditioned for the popular children's variety show The New Mickey Mouse Club, but she was refused because of her young age. Luckily for Britney Spears, one of the show's producers saw the young singer's talent and helped her find an agent in New York City.

Britney Spears spent the next three summers in New York, where she studied at the famous Off Broadway Dance Center and at the Professional Performing Arts School. She also appeared in commercials and off-Broadway shows, one of which showcased Britney as an innocent 10-year-old with a "bad girl" edge.

britney spears as a mouseketeer
At the age of 11, three years after her first Mickey Mouse Club rejection, Britney Spears finally landed a spot as a "Mouseketeer." Joining a cast of talented teens, Britney showed off her acting, dancing and singing talents on the show that also spawned the careers of fellow celebrities Keri Russell, Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake.

After two years of living in Orlando while doing the show, Britney Spears moved back home to Kentwood and returned to high school. Her one year as a 14-year-old high-school student would be the last bit of normalcy in her life. With dreams of pursuing a career as a singer and a desire to leave her small hometown, Britney set off to New York City. Britney then signed with Jive Records after impressing an executive with her demo tape.

britney releases hit me baby one more time
Her debut album ...Baby One More Time (1999) held the No. 1 spot on the Billboard charts, was certified RIAA 14 times platinum (it has gone on to sell more than 20 million copies) and won Britney awards such as the 1999 MTV Europe Awards for Best Female Artist, Best Pop Artist and Best Breakthrough Artist.

With the hype nowhere near being over, she returned to the music scene in 2000 with her follow-up album, entitled Oops!... I Did It Again. With a hit video accompanying the hit title track (in which Spears definitely did it again, this time in a red latex cat suit), a second worldwide tour in support of her album and millions of fans, Britney Spears accomplished what few artists ever accomplish -- and she was only 18 years old.

2001 was a banner year for the pop star, as she cohosted the American Music Awards with LL Cool J, sang with Aerosmith, 'N Sync, Nelly, and Mary J. Blige at the Super Bowl, appeared on a spoken-word CD of the Pope's prayers (irony?), and signed a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal with Pepsi. Her third, self-titled album was released, which spawned hits like "Overprotected," "I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman" and "Slave 4 U."

A year later she starred in the less-than-talked-about movie Crossroads. That same year, she also appeared as host and performer on Saturday Night Live and had a cameo in Austin Powers in Goldmember.

britney spears and justin timberlake
After her public breakup with Justin Timberlake in 2002 the once-chaste Spears began showing up in tabloids and entertainment news shows due to her heavy partying and rebellious lifestyle.

She even appeared at a movie premiere with bad boy Colin Farrell, and her many tattoos and the confirmation that she did indeed have sex with Justin only added fuel to the fire. Throw in a nearly naked performance at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, a performance with caged animals and a snake at the following year's VMAs and a very erotic video for "Slave 4 U," and Britney's good-girl image was down the drain.

britney spears releases in the zone
A few months before the release of her fourth album, In The Zone, Britney Spears shocked audiences yet again at the VMAs, this time during a remixed rendition of Madonna's "Like A Virgin." Along with Christina Aguilera, Britney kissed Madonna in one of the most memorable -- and scandalous -- moments of the year. In The Zone was released in November 2003, and debuted at No. 1 with more than 609,000 copies sold in its first week of release. That same month, Britney received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

britney spears marries kevin federline
Britney married her former backup dancer, Kevin Federline, on September 18, 2004, and after months of weight-gain rumors, Britney announced that she was pregnant with a baby boy, to whom she gave birth in 2005. The young husband and wife would go on to have another child, a baby boy named Jayden, in 2006, but the couple ended up in court when Britney Spears filed for divorce on November 7, 2006.

Soon after her breakup with Federline, Spears began hitting the dance-club circuit with Paris Hilton, and her privates were photographed with no underwear by a number of paparazzi.

On February 16, 2007, after months of wild partying, Britney Spears entered a drug rehab facility, but she left the very next day. That night, Britney entered a closed hair salon, and to everyone’s dismay, she shaved her head completely bald. After leaving the salon, Spears visited a tattoo parlor and got several new tattoos.

In October of the same year, Spears lost custody of her two boys to Kevin Federline.

britney spears on how i met your mother
In early 2008, police were called to the home of Britney Spears. She was hospitalized briefly, and after that, she started taking strides to clean up her act. She stayed out of the spotlight as much as possible and took on projects that would help improve her image, like making guest appearances on the hit TV sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Surprisingly, viewers were quite impressed with her acting skills.
