Johnny Depp’s New Tattoo: What the hell was he thinking??
Johnny Depp was the big winner of the 2008 MTV Movies Awards, accepting awards for Best Comedic Performance and Best Villain. Taking a break from “Public Enemies”, Johnny sets the crowd on fire and reveals a brand new tattoo.
Yeah, what the hell was Johnny Depp thinking doing a tattoo that doesn’t read “C7Girl Forever” on his arm?? The beautiful tattoo has a deeper meaning… “Silence, Exile, Cunning.”
It’s a quote from the James Joyce’s book “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man“. At five pages of the end of the book, we can find this quote, from the main character Stephen:
“I will tell you what I will do and what I will not do. I will not serve that in which I no longer believe, whether it call itself my home, my fatherland, or my church: and I will try to express myself in some mode of life or art as freely as I can and as wholly as I can, using for my defense the only arms I allow myself to use - silence, exile, and cunning.”

Well I think its cool. And maybe it means something to him. Something more than a verse from a book.
