Oprah Is Forbes Magazine “Most Powerful Celebrity”

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey is at the top of Forbes' annual list of the most powerful celebrities in the world for the second year in a row.

With an annual income of $275 million US and a popular daytime talk show and magazine, Winfrey easily secured her spot at the top of the list of 100 stars, who are ranked based on their fame and fortune, Forbes said. The American magazine released the list Thursday.

Winfrey was also No. 1 in 2007 and 2005. She was supplanted by actor Tom Cruise in 2006.

Following on Winfrey's heels in this year's list was golfer Tiger Woods, who earned an estimated $115 million on and off the course in the past year, Forbes said.

Actress Angelina Jolie was third, with $14 million in earnings and soaring fame, while her boyfriend, actor Brad Pitt, was 10th with $20 million.

Another power couple hit the top 10 — pop star Beyoncé Knowles (4th with $80 million) and rapper Jay-Z (7th with $82 million).

Forbes noted that several young stars muscled their way onto the list. Leading the pack was Miley Cyrus, with her massive concert tour, hit movie and television show, and risqué photo shoot in Vanity Fair, and estimated earnings of $25 million.

There were 27 newcomers on the 2008 list, including comedy talk show host Jon Stewart (80th), actor Steve Carell (87th) and reality television star Lauren Conrad (97th).
